2008-2009 Business report
Mark Duchesne reports that Alliance Machine Systems International continues its focus on productivity-enhancing material handling systems and specialty folder gluers. 2008 was a year of growth in shipments as proven Alliance solutions were in high demand around the globe. We thank our global customers for the opportunity to work with them toward the common goal of maximizing box-plant performance and efficiency.
We enter 2009 concerned about the widespread economic anxiety which exists among both consumers and producers, but are confident that we can not only adapt, but also assist our customers with their adaptation strategies. For those that question the need for productivity while facing an uncertain economic future, we suggest that production efficiency has never been more important than today. Pressure on box plant margins will increase as more compete for less.
Our response has been to continue to refine our existing product lines to provide higher productivity, increased up time, and to minimize operator interaction. We have consolidated our global manufacturing capabilities into centers of excellence providing global products to suit regional requirements. Our FeedMAX, SBFII , Minifeeder and High Speed Top Feeders constitute a line of advanced prefeeder products incorporating the latest innovations and continuously enhanced capabilities based on the data gathered from our over 3000+ global prefeeder installations. Our stacking, separation and take-off systems are the most productive and reliable in the industry, from Die Cutter to finished load, with single point of control and system responsibility.
We have more products, retrofits and services than in any other year in our history and stand ready to not only supply complete integrated systems, but to apply our significant engineering resources to create new solutions for customers’ unique challenges.
In 2008, Alliance continued to be the market leader in the Specialty Folder Gluer arena with both the J&L and Tanabe brand gluers. To these product lines we have added exciting new capabilities such as “two piece box and “multi feeders”. The two piece box option allows the joining of side by side panels. This is especially valuable in applications where the finished box size requirements exceed the maximum size of the die cutter. The multi feeders allow placement of one or two corrugated blanks on top of another blank. Key applications are shelf ready packaging and applications where higher structural properties are required. This technology allows production of stronger boxes with less board content yielding both greener and more cost effective solutions for our customers’ customer.
